As we continue to explore 7-figure success, we learn more about private equity.
Private equity involves raising funds to buy and sell businesses.
When someone raises a private equity fund, they can use the money to buy undervalued companies.
Once they’ve acquired the company, they make improvements to the company, such as replacing the senior leadership and upgrading processes, in order to increase the valuation of the company.
Once the company's valuation is increased, typically in 5-7 years, they turn around and sell the company for a profit.
For example, let’s say a certain retail chain is worth $530 million, and you believe that with the right upgrades, you could increase it’s valuation and sell for $1.5 billion. Simply put, your firm could buy the business, make the upgrades, sell the business, and keep the profits.
Although many guys reading this are making 6-figures, there are a growing number of brothers who are making 7-figures reading this newsletter.
Many guys making 6-figures think that making a million dollars annually in base salary, bonus, and equity is the holy grail.
I grew up humble so the thought of someone making over $100,000 was mind-blowing at the time.
However, now that I meet more and more guys making 7-figures, I realize what real money is.
They are thinking of making 8–10 figures and know that a 9–5 role won’t get them there.
They either have to become entrepreneurs, start a PE firm, VC firm, hedge fund, go heavy into real estate or make another investment that has a huge upside.

Born Driven: The Executive Blueprint For Black Men In Corporate America 🔥
Connecting with the right publisher has been game-changing. Since connecting with Last Gen Publishing, a company started by two brothers, my writing has taken off.
My goal was to finish my book by the end of this year. That is now happening. Over the past nine days, I’ve written nine chapters and only have one left.
The story is now about two friends, Mike and Phil, who both went to Harvard Business School together and Morehouse for undergrad. Twenty years later, Mike is now killing it as a 7-figure COO for a F500 company, while Phil’s career has stalled out in middle management.
As they unexpectedly reunite in an airport lounge during their layovers, Mike shares the secrets that helped him dominate the corporate world. But will Phil use these shifts or stay the same?
This book is going to be a hit. I can feel it. It’s got a great name, a great cover, a great story, great lessons, and a great audience of readers. It will need to be read far and wide.
After I complete the final chapter, the book will go into the editing and publishing phase, which will take 6 months.
In terms of sales, I’d love to sell the book by the 100s and 1000s to corporations and universities that want to advance Black men’s and other employee’s career success.
