The first winner gets $100 prize money, and the second winner gets $50 prize money. We’re still waiting for our third-place winner, who will get $25 in prize money. Who will it be?
Negotiations
So, you've aced the final interview and received multiple job offers.
Congratulations!
Now comes the time for negotiation. Aiming for a 15% increase from their initial offer is typically within the acceptable range.
Don't worry if you're new to negotiating salary or equity; it's common in corporate America.
Remember, your goal is not only to love your job but also to maximize your earnings.
Keep focused on securing that ideal financial package by interviewing at various companies and comparing offers.
To negotiate effectively, aim for around 15% more than their original proposal.
Obtain the initial offer in writing before discussing further via phone or email—whatever feels comfortable.
Engage in back-and-forth discussions until reaching an agreement that satisfies both parties.
With boldness and assertiveness, secure a deal that reflects your worth while ensuring future success and happiness in your chosen role.

EP 31: The Second Pillar of Career Success for Black Men
In this episode, I discuss the second pillar of career success: self-promotion. I emphasize the importance of taking action and holding oneself accountable in order to achieve career goals. I share my experiences and provide practical advice on effectively promoting oneself within an organization.
I highlight the need for an executive sponsor, mentors, and regular communication with one’s boss and skip-level manager. I also emphasize the importance of documenting and sharing one’s accomplishments and the value they bring to the company.
I conclude by encouraging listeners to take action and invest in their own success.
”Take action and give 100% effort in your career to achieve results.”
Born Driven: The Executive Blueprint For Black Men In Corporate America
I’m on a standstill with my book. It’s mentally a challenge to push through. Not because I don’t love writing, but because I have imposter syndrome around finishing. The questions of “who am I to”, keep popping up in my mind.
However, I’m going to get this book done one way or another.I thought I’d have finished it by now, but not yet. Mentally, I was waiting for permission to tell my story, and now I think I’m ready to own this process and get it done. My new goal is to finish by the end of December.
I’m likely going to have it published by a brother in the Black Executive Men network. His name is Jonathan Beauford, and his publishing company is called Last Gen Publishing.
If you’re considering writing your book, reach out to Jonathan and tell him I sent you.
