Being the Best in the World
The Key To Getting Everything You Want In Life

I remember being in USC film school and the Peter Stark Producing Program. This is the best film-producing program in the world.
However, I was a rebel and a revolutionary in spirit at the time and was bucking against the Hollywood corporate structure.
My goal was to head back to Ghana and Nigeria and make African films on the continent that would support the growing African film industry.

However, I struggled to adjust to the Hollywood-driven program and was on my way to failing out due to poor grades in the very first semester of the program.
My classmates clearly saw that I was struggling, as it was a relatively small cohort.
A British guy named Nick pulled me aside one day and said, Jewel, the goal is to be the best in the world at what you do. Whether that’s in film or something else, that’s really where you want to get to.
Nick didn’t have to do that for me. But he did, and 15 years later, it still resonates.
I recognize the power and importance of being the best in the world at what you do.
Some of that’s going to come down to specialization and simply being ultra-specific in the community you serve, the problem you solve, or the role you have in an organization.
Some of that’s going to come down to the processes that you use to get the results.

Much of it will come down to your being able to highlight the value that you bring to an organization through the actions and strategies you implement.
However, that is the standard here at Black Executive Men to become the best in the world at what you do.
When you do so, it brings a level of personal fulfillment, knowing that you are not only giving it your all but also having the impact you desire on those you serve.
It also connects you to having recognition for what you do, which is incredibly important on a psychological level and connected to Maslow‘s hierarchy of needs.
We’re social creatures and live in community; even if we’re isolated in our barn in Montana with only two other people in that town, we’re still on YouTube and connected to the matrix via social media.
The last piece is fairly obvious; however, it connects to the financial opportunities that usually come with being the best in the world at what you do. You can write your own check.
Think about the best psychotherapist, the best coach, the best tech CEO, the best mechanic in the world, or the best basketball player.
These people get to write their own checks. So can you.

What if you were the best in the world as a VP of marketing, as a CEO of automotive companies, as a CFO for apparel companies, or as a director for online educational programs?
How would that impact your family, your wealth, and your ability to craft your career exactly how you want it?
Another excellent question is, "What would it take for you to become the best in the world at what you do or what you would like to do?" Whatever that is, I want you to do it and get results.
